Autotrail are one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high quality motor homes.  Their attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction puts them at the forefront of innovative design.

Advance worked very closely with Autotrail to develop bespoke lighting solutions for their Chieftain, Comanche, Mohawk and Savannah motor homes.  The brief was to design and create effective, discrete accent lighting that would give the motor homes a ‘signature’ look and feel.

The fact that motor homes have a low voltage power supply, typically 12V DC, meant that designing products with LED’s was the obvious choice.  The long life and the reliability of using LED’s was deemed to be an added benefit.

Flexible LED strips were used for the pelmet and under shelf lighting.  The compact nature of this product allowed Autotrail to achieve very discrete but effective lighting in these areas.  The warm white colour of the LED’s were carefully selected to achieve a relaxed and inviting atmosphere within the motor homes.

Another area that was investigated was the ‘splash screens’ next to the sink.  Again flexible LED strips were used to edge light the plastic screens to create a unique look.  These products were chosen because of their flexibility and the limited space available.

These lighting solutions have been adopted and are currently being used in Autotrails 2010 range of vehicles.
